Potomac School wins big, evens record at 1-1 in football action

Potomac School defensive back Jake Adamec scored two defensive touchdowns in the Panthers' Sept. 7 home victory.

The Potomac School Panthers (1-1) routed visiting St. John’s Catholic Prep, 48-22, in non-conference high-school football play Sept. 6 to end a five-game losing streak spread over two seasons.

Jake Adamec scored two touchdowns from his defensive-back position, returning an interception 50 yards for a TD and a fumble 65 yards for another score.

“It was awesome,” Potomac School coach Dan Wolff said of the touchdowns.

Potomac School quarterback Sean Sutherland was 7 of 8 passing for 52 yards, with Brendan Sutherland having two catches, one for a touchdown. Mack Repke had another touchdown catch.

Lucas Boulter ran for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Stefan Harvey made four extra points.

On defense, Gus Tierney, E.J. Schneeberg and Jag Gioia were top tacklers, with Triston Davis having two interceptions.

• The Flint Hill Huskies started the high-school football season 0-2 following a 31-0 home loss to Woodberry Forest on Sept. 7. The Huskies also lost their first game at home.

Of Flint Hill’s 136 total yards, only one was rushing. Senior quarterback Caleb West passed for 135 yards. The Huskies turned the ball over three times.

Woodberry returned a blocked 26-yard field goal 82 yards for a touchdown on the final play of the first half to take a 10-0 halftime lead. The team connected on some long second-half plays in the final two quarters as it led 24-0 after three periods.
