Funding totaling about $8.6 million for five Fairfax County submissions has been approved by the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission as part of the fiscal 2025-25 “I-66 Commuter Choice” program.

The approved Fairfax County projects are among 15 totaling just over $30 million authorized by the body. Funds come from tolls collected on Interstate 66 inside the Capital Beltway.

The total funding is well within the $40 million to $60 million that is expected to be available for the current cycle.

Fairfax-centric funding includes support for Fairfax Connector Route 610, 697, 698 and 699, and expansion of Capital Bikeshare in the Fairfax Centre area.
