A relatively quiet tropical season in the Atlantic suddenly is starting to get busy, and the GazetteLeader's officials weather partner, AccuWeather, says Northern Virginia could face the impact of a developing tropical-storm system.

It's too early to know for sure, but it is worth keeping an eye on for the next few days, to see what might develop by the middle of next week.

Either way, the region should brace for the possibility of multiple days of rain next week. Which should be helpful, considering much of Virginia is facing drought or semi-drought conditions.
