ALLEGED RETAIL-THEFT CREW ARRESTED: Three individuals from New York were taken into custody Sept. 1 by Fairfax County police in connection with a retail-theft crew allegedly responsible for more than 20,000 in stolen merchandise.

Around 3:30 p.m., officers with the department’s Tysons Urban Team responded to the 8300 block of Leesburg Pike in Tysons for a larceny. Detectives located three suspects and took them into custody. The crew was found to be in possession of over $1,700 worth of stolen merchandise, police said.

A search of the suspects’ vehicle and hotel room revealed an additional $20,000 worth of stolen merchandise from stores, police said.

Arrested, charged with various offenses and held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center were 50-year-old Henry Rozo-Olarte, 55-year-old Maria Garcia-Casallas and 42-year-old Angelica Velasquez Grajales, all of New York.

McLEAN MAN ARRESTED ON EXPOSURE CHARGE: A 25-year-old McLean man was arrested Sept. 3 in connection with an earlier exposure case in Tysons, and also faces potential charges in a case that took place the day of his arrest.

Officers on Sept. 3 responded to the 1500 block of Cornerside Boulevard in Tysons for a report of an exposure, Fairfax County Police said, and determined that the suspect – Kendall Jamal Miller – had been in the store exposing himself and attempting to inappropriately touch customers.

As part of the investigation, Miller was linked to an exposure case that allegedly occurred on May 25, and has been charged with one count of sexual battery in that case, police said.

Miller was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was later released on an unsecured bond. Detectives continue to investigate the Sept. 3 incident, and additional charges are pending, police say.

TEENS CAUTIONED ABOUT UNDERAGE DRINKING AFTER ATTEMPT TO GET HOME GOES AWRY: A cascading series of events led local teens to be warned about, but not charged with, underage drinking during a recent episode in Vienna.

On Sept. 1 at 2:37 a.m., a Vienna police officer observed two vehicles and a group of individuals in the parking lot of Marshall Road Elementary School, police said.

The officers determined that four of the individuals were juveniles who had been drinking outside the town limits, and that one of the teens had contacted a mother to pick them up.

While driving the group home, the mother’s car broke down, and she pulled into the school’s parking lot. The mother then called another mother to pick the group up and get everyone home safely, police said.

The teens were all released to parents/guardians with warnings about the dangers of underage drinking and consequences of being drunk in public, police said.

DRIVER PICKS UP DWI, RECKLESS-DRIVING CHARGES: On Sept. 2 at 1:47 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Maple Ave., W., and initiated a traffic stop, Vienna police said.

The driver pulled into the parking lot of the Wawa in the 400 block of Maple Ave., W. Upon interacting with the man, the officer detected signs of impairment, police said.

The driver failed to complete a series of field-sobriety tests and was placed under arrest, police said.

The 25-year-old suspect was taken to the Vienna Police Station, where he provided a sample of his breath for analysis. Then he was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving by speed.

DRIVER’S INATTENTION CAUSES VEHICLE TO FLIP IN VIENNA: On Aug. 31 at 8:43 p.m., a vehicle was traveling northbound in the 200 block of Lawyers Road, N.W., when the driver accidentally went off the roadway, Vienna police said.

The vehicle struck a pole and flipped, police said.

The driver was issued a summons for reckless driving, police said.

DRIVER IN ACCIDENT SCOOTS BEFORE EXCHANGING INFORMATION: On Aug. 27 at 5 p.m., two vehicles were on Nutley Street at Courthouse Road, S.W., in Vienna, in a left-turn lane when the driver of the trailing vehicle ran into the rear of the vehicle in front, causing minor damage.

The two drivers agreed to pull off the roadway to exchange information, but the driver of the striking vehicle then left the scene, Vienna police said.

AFTER ACCIDENT, WOMAN’S VEHICLE WHACKS BUS-STOP SIGN: A vehicle was turning left from Niblick Drive, S.E. onto westbound Maple Ave., E., on Aug. 25 at 9:17 p.m. The driver pulled into the median, partially blocking eastbound traffic, Vienna police said.

A vehicle that was eastbound on Maple Ave. then struck the first vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle failed to place her vehicle into park after the incident, causing the vehicle to drift onto the sidewalk and into a bus-stop sign, police said.

PANERA MANAGER GETS AGGRESSIVE INDIVIDUAL BANISHED: On Sept. 4 at 7:21 p.m., a manager of Panera at 136 Maple Ave., W., contacted Vienna police about a man who had been acting aggressively toward customers and staff.

The officer notified the man that he was trespassed from the premises, and could be arrested if he returned.
