100-degree Saturday not off the table as temperatures crank up

It won't just be hot, but humid too, as spring turns into summer this week

Think it's hot now across Northern Virginia? Mother Nature is ready to make things really toasty.

The GazetteLeader's weather partner, AccuWeather, is forecasting an incremental increase in daily high temperatures across the local region through Saturday, when the thermometer will flirt with the 100-degree mark. (The current forecast is for 99 degrees.)

The warm temperatures will be accompanied by plenty of humidity, leading AccuWeather to urge residents to stay hydrated and take it easy.

And never rule out the possibility of tropical activity starting to gear up and potentially impact the Mid-Atlantic, although for now the only things on the horizon are typical summer-afternoon thunderboomers.
