Langley golfers have strong second round at Frable tournament

Alexa Green is one of the top golfers for the Langley High School team this season.

With a much lower score the second round, the Langley Saxons finished eighth at the 11-team Dr. Jack Frable High School Invitational golf tournament in Midlothian.

Langley’s two-day total on the Independence Golf Club course was 325-303–628. Western Albermarle of Charlottesville won with a 295-283–578 total, with Deep Run of Glen Allen second at 291-294–585.

The tournament included a number of the top public high-school teams in the state. Langley is included among those teams by virtue of winning district and region championships last fall and multiple previous Class 6 state crowns.

Leading Langley individually was Shakthi Pattabiraman with a 79-69–148 total to tie for 11th. Sarah Wang shot 80-78–158 and had the sixth lowest score by a female player.

Also for Langley, Jake Stansbury shot 83-77–160, Mateo Albolote 83-81–164 and Alexa Green 95-79–174.

All five Langley players recorded lower second-round scores.

The tournament’s individual champion was Luca Rinaldi of James River High with an 8-under 66-70–136 total, with Talon Dingledine of Monacan High second at 6-under 74-64–138.
