STERLING MAN, 63, CHARGED IN FATAL PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT IN GREAT FALLS: Authorities have charged a motorist who allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian July 20 in Great Falls, Fairfax County police said Aug. 30.

Officers responded July 20 around 3:43 a.m. to a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle at Leesburg Pike and Downey Drive. The driver of the vehicle initially left the scene, but returned shortly after, police said.

Preliminarily, detectives determined that the victim, Giomarie Davila-Ocasio, 26, of Reston, entered the roadway in the westbound lanes of Leesburg Pike. The motorist was driving a 2016 Ford Explorer west on Leesburg Pike near the intersection and when the vehicle struck Davila-Ocasio, who was declared deceased at the scene, police said.

Detectives believes alcohol was a factor in the crash for the pedestrian, but not the driver.

Authorities on Aug. 29 charged the driver, Guanglu Xia, 63, of Sterling, with felony hit-and-run and held him without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

VIENNA MAN, 18, ARRESTED AFTER ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTING OFFICER: A Vienna police officer on Aug. 29 at 11:18 p.m. reportedly observed four men drinking alcohol near a vehicle in the 200 block of Cedar Lane, S.E.

The owner of the vehicle immediately left and went into his apartment. Two other men complied with the officer, but the fourth refused to cooperate, police said.

Police arrested the 18-year-old Vienna man. As the officer was taking him into custody, the man allegedly assaulted her. Police transported the man to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where authorities charged him with felony assault on a police officer, obstruction of justice, public drunkenness and drinking alcohol in public.

MAN, CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH THREE INDECENT-EXPOSURE CASES: Fairfax County police officers arrested a 22-year-old Falls Church man after he allegedly exposed himself during three separate events in Merrifield, department officials said Aug. 30.

On Aug. 20 around 1:22 p.m., officers responded to the area of Fairmont Street and Woodberry Lane in Merrifield to investigate a report of a man exposing himself. The suspect fled the area before police arrived.

Patrol officers at the McLean District Station began an investigation and identified Juan Antonio Campos, 22, of Falls Church as the suspect, authorities said.

After Campos was identified, officers reportedly connected him to additional exposure incidents on June 5 and 11, both of which occurred in the 2900 block of Fairmont Street in Merrifield.

On Aug. 28, authorities arrested Campos and charged him with two counts of indecent exposure and masturbation in public. He was held on a secure bond and since has been released, police said.

MAN, 32, CHARGED AFTER ALLEGEDLY SHOPLIFTING FROM VIENNA STORE: An employee at Walgreens, 225 Maple Ave., E., told Vienna police Aug. 24 at 2:47 p.m. that a man had entered the store, taken merchandise and left the store without paying for it.

An officer located the man with the merchandise in the 100 block of Maple Avenue, W. Police arrested the 32-year-old man with no fixed address and transported him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where authorities charged him with petty larceny.

SUSPECT STEALS CREDIT CARDS, CASH FROM VIENNA RESTAURANT EMPLOYEE’S PURSE: An employee at Cava, 418 Maple Ave., E., informed Vienna police on Aug. 27 at 2:45 p.m. that her credit cards and U.S. currency had been stolen.

The restaurant’s security video showed a man enter a side door, grab her purse and take it into the bathroom, police said. After stealing the items, the suspect left the purse in the bathroom.

The employee’s bank reported one of the cards was used to make a purchase in the District of Columbia, police said.

VIENNA MAN SAYS TENANT FORGED HIS SIGNATURE ON CHECK: A resident living in the 200 block of Park Terrace Court, S.E., informed Vienna police Aug. 27 at 3:49 p.m. that a tenant allegedly had forged his signature on a reimbursement check.

FAIRFAX COUNTY POLICE RECOVER VIENNA MAN’S STOLEN VEHICLE: A resident living in the 1200 block of Ross Drive, S.W., told Vienna police that, sometime between Aug. 28 at 9 p.m. and Aug. 29 at 6:30 a.m. , someone had stolen his vehicle after he left it legally parked and locked on the road in front of his home.

Fairfax County police recovered the vehicle later in the morning on Aug. 29.

VIENNA POLICE RECOVER VEHICLE STOLEN IN ARLINGTON COUNTY: A Vienna officer who had been alerted to a suspicious vehicle parked in the 100 block of Patrick Street, S.E., on Sept. 29 at 8:06 a.m. found that the vehicle had been stolen in Arlington County.

Vienna police recovered the vehicle and notified Arlington County police. The vehicle’s owner later responded to retrieve his vehicle.

THIEF STEALS RESCUE HAMMER FROM VIENNA RESIDENT’S VEHICLE: A resident living in the 100 block of Patrick Street, S.E., told Vienna police that, sometime between Aug. 28 at 10:20 p.m. and Aug. 29 at 7:20 a.m., someone had rummaged through the resident’s locked vehicle and stolen a rescue hammer.

VIENNA WOMAN REPORTS UNAUTHORIZED CREDIT-CARD CHARGES: A resident living in the 300 block of Park Street, N.E., told Vienna police that, sometime between Aug. 14 at 5 p.m. and Aug. 16 at 5 p.m., someone had made several unauthorized charges to her credit card.

POLICE SEEKING SUSPECTS WHO STOLE CASH FROM 2 FALLS CHURCH BUSINESSES: Fairfax County police detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying two suspects in a pair of recent commercial burglaries in the Falls Church area.

On Aug. 27 at 2:04 a.m., officers responded to a burglary report in the 7500 block of Leesburg Pike.

Officers determined that two suspects had broken into the business and stolen a safe containing cash.

While canvassing the area, officers found that the same suspects had broken into a second business, also in the 7500 block of Leesburg Pike, and taken cash there as well.

The suspects are described as two slim males wearing black hooded sweatshirts, gloves and black pants. Both suspects fled the area in a black BMW sport-utility vehicle.

Detectives think these suspects also are linked to several burglaries in Washington, D.C.
