Terrie Suit, who has led the Virginia Realtors trade group for 11 years, is stepping down.

After 11 years at the helm, the leader of the commonwealth’s largest trade organization has announced plans to retire.

Terrie Suit has served as CEO of Virginia Realtors since September 2013, having begun her real-estate career as a Realtor in 1985 before transitioning to a 21-year career in mortgage lending.

“I believe in the power of this organization and the importance of its mission,I believe in the power of owning property, and I know that this organization’s tireless efforts will continue helping more and more Virginians to realize that dream,” Suit said. “As Virginia Realtors continues to grow, I look forward to watching the association advocate for its members, advocate for a healthy real estate market, and protect the interests of all property owners.”

Under her tenure, the trade association has achieved “significant progress,” 2024 Virginia Realtors president Tom Campbell said.

“We have been able to advocate for homeowners across Virginia and pass meaningful legislation to help protect our industry,” he said.

Martin Johnson, who has served Virginia Realtors in several capacities – including, most recently, chief external-affairs office – has been tapped as interim CEO of the organization, which has 36,000 members engaged in residential and commercial real estate across the Old Dominion.
