Washington-Liberty football team wins big again, stands 2-0

Washington-Liberty's Jon Malatesta caught four passes in the team's win over Annandale.

The Washington-Liberty Generals (2-0) routed the host Annandale Atoms, 46-3, Sept. 6 for its second blowout of the season.

Leading W-L was running back Brayden Black rushing for 75 yards and two touchdowns and quarterback Matt Abramson completing 16 passes for 202 yards and two scores. Jon Malatesta (four catches, 54 yards) and Mikey Barber (four catches, 32) had the touchdown receptions. Sean Guffey had three catches for 61 yards, Black (18 yards) and Trevor Fullen (21 yards) had two catches each and Zack Meehan had one for 16.

Guffey also ran for 43 yards on his only carry, Dylan Guzman ran for 50 and Abramson for 43. Henry Fonseca-Cruz had a short touchdown run.

 Washington-Liberty had 414 total yards.

Felipe Dieguez kicked five extra points and made a 36-yard field goal.

Leading tackles on defense for the Generals were Cruz, Meehan, Jasper Dennis, Connor Hurren, Brian Baptiste, Jackson Colgan and Maximus De La Vega. De La Vega and Dennis had sacks, along with Ian Crowley.

David Toepel had two kick returns for 77 yards.
