Washington-Liberty improves to 3-0 with another football rout

Generals roll up 370 yards in home shutout victory

Washington-Liberty quarterback Matthew Abramson had another productive game for the Generals as they improved 3-0.

For the second straight year, the Washington-Liberty Generals have begun the high-school football season with a 3-0 record, again each with lopsided victories.

The most recent win was a 41-0 blanking of the visiting Lewis Lancers the night of Sept. 13 in a non-district contest. The Generals have outscored those opponents, 136-16 with one shutout.

In the Sept. 13 win, Washington-Liberty amassed 370 total yards, of which 199 were rushing.

Generals' quarterback Matthew Abramson had a near perfect game passing, completing 11 of 12 attempts for 165 yards and three touchdowns. Sean Guffey, Jon Malatesta and Mikey Barber all caught scoring passes. Guffey had five catches for 100 yards, Malatesta caught two for 31 and Dylan Guzman and Luke Jones also each caught two passes. Trevor Fullen and David Toepel each had one catch.

Guzman and Ben Hughes were the leading rushers, with 105 and 45 yards, respectively. Guffey and Hughes had scoring runs. Felipe Dieguez kicked the extra points and two field goals. Toepel had 37 yards in punt returns and Guzman an 18-yard kickoff return.

On defense for Washington-Liberty, Hughes, Jasper Dennis, Connor Hurren, Daniel Kirsch and Aiden White were among the tackling leaders.
