Wakefield blanked by Herndon in district football game

The Wakefield Warriors fell to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the Liberty District with a 42-0 road loss to the Herndon Hornets the night of Sept. 14. Wakefield trailed at halftime, 28-0, in the high-school football game.

Leading Wakefield on offense in the loss was quarterback Peyton Boroff. He completed 13 passes for 78 yards. Cameron Fields was the team’s leading rusher with 38 yards, Joshua Cohen had 23 and Michael Hutchinson eight.

Bryant Cruz Lemus caught six passes for 43 yards, Cohen caught three and Matthew Johnson two.

In the second quarter for Wakefield, Hutchinson returned a fumble 64 yards.

Next up for Wakefield is a non-district road game against the Edison Eagles (1-2) on Friday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.
