With two lopsided victories last week, the defending Division I private-school state champion Bishop O’Connell Knights girls softball team improved to 7-0.

O’Connell defeated Elizabeth Seton, 9-1, and Bishop Ireton, 15-0, in those Washington Catholic Athletic Conference games.

Katie Kutz was the winning pitcher in each.

With the bat against Ireton, Kutz homered twice, one a grand slam, and drove in six runs. That gave her eight homers and 27 RBI for the season, and she was batting .759. Her pitching record is 7-0.

O'Connell had 15 hits against Ireton. Sofia Anderson added three hits with an RBI, Ari Clark added two hits with a triple and two RBI, Sophia Taliaferro and Alyssa Dichard each had two hits and an RBI, Emma Prykanowski doubled and had two hits and Bri Lencz had a hit and an RBI.

Kutz fanned six with no walks in the perfect two innings she pitched. In three frames, Lencz fanned three, did not walk a batter and gave up one hit.
