Washington-Liberty quarterback Jon Bhojwani hands off to Anthony Louis as linemen Edward Barker (76) and Samuel Bekele are blockingn against Annandale.

In a similar manner to their opening-game victory, the Washington-Liberty Generals repeated those performances Aug. 31 in week-two action to each improve to 2-0 with non-district home wins.

For the second straight contest, Washington-Liberty scored early and often behind a strong passing attack to defeat the Annandale Atoms, 49-20, in high-school football action.

Washington-Liberty quarterback Jon Bhojwani was 21 of 27 passing for 325 yards and four touchdowns with no interception.

“He is very accurate and threw well, we have some weapons to throw to and he was the story line. Our offense is definitely rolling,” W-L coach Josh Shapiro said.

Bhojwani threw two scoring passes to Jackson Nowinski (six catches, 134 yards) and one each to Luke Harnishfeger (five for 55) and Jonathan Malatesta (three for 76). Joseph Cordaro had six catches for 45 yards. Michael Barber and Axel Dendy each caught one pass.

Leading the Washington-Liberty running game was Anthony Louis with 51 yards rushing and a touchdown, and Sean Guffey had a five-yard scoring run. Louis had 120 yards in kickoff returns, including one of 84 yards for a touchdown.

Marcelo Carrasquillo booted seven extra points.

On defense for W-L, Guffey and Brian Baptiste (fumble recovery) each made 10 tackles and Ryan Dodini made nine, with a fumble recovery, forced a fumble and had a tackle for a loss.

NOTE: The 2-0 start is Washington-Liberty’s best since the 1997 season.
