For her work with the Arlington County CERT (Community Emergency Response Team), Sue MacLane has been announced as the recipient of Volunteer Arlington’s “Lifetime of Service Award.”

The award will be presented July 9 during the annual Arlington Cares celebration of volunteerism, to be held at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) conference center in Ballston.

Also to be honored:

• James Dooley of the Arlington Addiction Recovery Initiative will receive the Distinguished County Service Award.

• Rocklands Barbeque and Grilling Co. will receive the Distinguished Corporate Service Award.

• St. Michael’s Episcopal Church will receive the Group Service Award for efforts to support PathForward.

• Aliyah Majeed-Hall will receive the Youth Service Award for efforts with AHC.

• Arlington County’s Virginia Insurance Counseling & Assistance Program (VICAP) will receive the Racial Equity Award.

“This year’s honorees remind us all of the importance that individuals and groups can make when they take the time to care for others,” said Lisa Fikes, president/CEO of the Leadership Center of Arlington. “There is something to learn from each of their stories.”

Also being celebrated at the event will be people who volunteered for more than 100 hours at an individual safety-net organization for the year ending June 30.

There is no charge to attend, but registration is required. For information, see the Website at volunteerarlington.org/arlington-cares.
