On July 24 at 9:53 a.m., a woman was inside her home in the 2900 block of South Grant Street when a man allegedly entered, displayed a military identification and demanded her vehicle, Arlington police said.

The victim refused and the suspect subsequently exited the home and proceeded to try the door handles of three unoccupied, parked vehicles in the area, police said. The suspect reportedly told the owner of one of the vehicles he needed the vehicle for military business.

Responding officers located the suspect – 24-year-old Dayan Balderrama of Woodbridge – and took him into custody. He was charged with impersonating a law-enforcement officer (two counts), vehicle tampering (two counts), attempted robbery and burglary, and was held without bond.
