• Vivienne Blouin of Arlington has been inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi academic honor society.
• Evelyn Walyus of Arlington participated in the Emerson College production of “How We Got On,” performed in October at the Paramount Center in Boston.
Walyus is majoring in design/technology.
• Aleksei Dudley of Arlington, a senior kinesiology major at McDaniel College, will perform in the Student African Drum Ensembles at the college on Nov. 30.
The concert, open to the public, will feature traditional African songs.
• Daniel Rebmann of Arlington has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the New York Army National Guard.
• A number of local high-school students will perform in Traveling Players’ upcoming production of “Commedia Christmas Carol,” to run Dec. 2-10 at Traveling Players Studio at Tysons Corner Center.
The production is an adaptation of the classic work by Charles Dickens. Arlington student Morgan Pletcher will be in the show.

• Paul Misener – a scientist, lawyer, engineer and innovator – will be the featured speaker at the winter commencement ceremony at George Mason University, officials said.
Misener is the founder of Misener Innovation LLC, a consultancy dedicated to helping organizations innovate, advocate and communicate. In 1993, he earned a law degree at Mason after earning a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering and computer science at Princeton University.
