Arlington County government 55+ programs are held indoors at 55+ Centers unless otherwise noted. A membership (starting at $20 annually) is required to participate.

• The book club at Aurora Hills 55+ Center will meet on Monday, July 29 at 11:30 a.m. to discuss “The Old Man and the Sea” by Ernest Hemingway. [Drop-in; no registration required]

• The 55+ Travel group will travel to Richmond on Monday, July 29 to visit the “Samurai Armor” exhibit at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The cost is $30 for Arlington residents, $35 for others. • Tom Curtis will detail his adventures hitchhiking across Central and South America during a presentation on Tuesday, July 30 at 1 p.m. at Lubber Run 55+ Center. [Registration #914400-35]

Using LinkedIn during retirement will be explored by volunteer Ben Childers during a program on Tuesday, July 30 at 6:30 p.m. at Walter Reed 55+ Center. [Registration #914403-03]

Practice sessions of canasta will be offered on Wednesday, July 31 at 10 a.m. at Walter Reed 55+ Center. [Drop-in; no registration required]

• A summer tomato tasting will be held on Wednesday, July 31 at 6 p.m. at Arlington Mill 55+ Center. Attendees should bring their own whole tomatoes (preferably with some to share) and will explore a variety of glazes and toppings. [Registration #914501-01]

• Ken Schellenberg and the Neighbors will present classic American showtunes on Thursday, Aug. 1 at 1 p.m. at Walter Reed 55+ Center. [Registration #914301-04]

• A “crafternoon” social group of experienced yarn crafters will work on projects and then take a stroll around Lubber Run Community Center’s indoor track on Friday, Aug. 2 at 3 p.m. [Drop-in; no registration required]

• Aurora Hills 55+ Center hosts summer bingo with prizes on Friday, Aug. 2 at 1:30 p.m. [Registration #914600-03]
