Original coverage, 10/31/23:

For her work with Arlington Regional Master Naturalists, Beth Kiser will be presented with the annual Bill Thomas Park Service Award.

Selected by a panel of the Park and Recreation Commission, the award will be bestowed at the Nov. 14 County Board meeting. A reception will follow.

An economist by profession, Kiser was instrumental in organizing the county’s Park Stewards program, and has been a key player in park issues on other fronts, as well.

Although presented in late 2023, the Bill Thomas Park Service Award – named after a longtime parks advocate – will be for 2022.

Also receiving public recognition at the event will be past recipients who were not publicly feted at the time because of pandemic conditions: leadership of the demonstration gardens at Bon Air Park (for 2021) and Glenn Tobin (for 2020).
