A contingent from H-B Woodlawn Secondary Program’s drama program attended a special day of activities at the Barns of Wolf Trap in late April, after the school received a music-direction mentorship as part of the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts’ Grants for High-School Performing-Arts Teachers initiative.

Drama teacher Hope Lambert and the school are receiving support for the student-directed production of “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical.” Paige Rammelkamp, a music director and mentor, is working alongside the student-director throughout the production process, to help create and communicate the show’s vision.

Eight teachers from around the Washington region received Wolf Trap grants to fund music, dance and theater projects. Teachers and students participated in a day of learning at Wolf Trap on April 24, followed by an evening performance opportunity.

“The Lightning Thief” will be presented to the public on Friday, May 19 at 7:30 p.m. at H-B Woodlawn.
