Arlington Electoral Board members have set early-voting dates for the March 5 presidential primaries, and have given themselves some wiggle room in case circumstances necessitate additional slots.

In-person voting will run weekdays form 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Jan. 19 to March 1 at the Ellen M. Bozman Government Center, with hours extended to 7 p.m. on Feb. 27 and 29 and Saturday voting from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Feb. 24 and March 2.

At two satellites – Walter Reed and Madison community centers – voting will take place Feb. 24 and March 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Feb. 27 and 29 from 2 to 7 p.m.

Electoral Board members voted 3-0 to approve the staff recommendation, with the proviso that if there are severe weather impacts or high turnout, they may revisit the dates and add additional ones.

Virginia Democrats and Republicans will be holding their presidential-nominating processes via the March 5 primaries. On the Democratic side at Joe Biden, Marianne Williamson and Dean Phillips; on the GOP side are Donald Trump, Chris Christie, Vivek Ramaswamy, Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley and (Texas pastor) Ryan Binkley.

Under Virginia law, voters do not register by political party, so any voter can vote in either primary, but not both.

March 5 will be a standalone election; no other Virginia elections currently are slated for that day.
