MALICIOUS WOUNDING BY MOB:

• On Aug. 12 at 2:06 a.m., an individual attempted to enter an establishment in the 2600 block of Pershing Drive, but was denied entry by security, Arlington police said.

Another person approached the individual outside the establishment and engaged him in conversation, while a third person exited the establishment, police said. A physical altercation ensued, and another person left the establishment and joined what ended up being a three-on-one melee, police said.

The three suspects then entered a white SUV with Maryland plates, driven by another person. The victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries described as serious but non-life-threatening.

The suspects are described as Hispanic males, one with an average build, black mid-length hair and a black beard; one with an average build and short black hair; one with an athletic build. The driver of the vehicle is described as a female of unknown race.

ASSAULT-AND-BATTERY:

• On Aug. 18 at 9 p.m., two officers who were working a detail at the Arlington County Fair, being held at Thomas Jefferson Community Center, responded to the report of a fight on the soccer fields, Arlington police said.

The preliminary investigation indicates private security observed the two suspects in a physical fight. One suspect was detained without incident while the other suspect ran from a responding officer, police said.

The officer initiated a foot pursuit and took the second suspect into custody. While taking the suspect into custody, a crowd formed and began throwing water bottles and other objects at the officers, police said.

Additional officers responded and cleared the soccer field of attendees, police said.

The first suspect – 25-year-old Rick Chavez of Temple Hills – was arrested and charged with assault-and-battery and obstruction. The second suspect – 23-year-old Jordan Garcia-Viera of Sterling – was arrested and charged with assault-and-battery.

INDECENT LIBERTIES:

• On Aug. 11 at 12:46 p.m., a woman and a female juvenile were walking out of a business in the 400 block of 23rd Street South when they were approached by a man who allegedly exposed himself and made inappropriate statements, Arlington police said.

The victims then ran from the scene and called police. Police broadcast a lookout and a responding officer located the suspect nearby and detained him without incident, police said.

The suspect – 50-year-old Mark Allen of no fixed address – was arrested and charged with indecent liberties with a child, indecent exposure (third or more offense in 10 years) and being drunk in public. He was held without bond.

RECKLESS HANDLING OF FIREARM:

• On Aug. 13 at 10:11 p.m., after receiving a call about a fight in the 3800 block of 7th Street North, a responding officer observed a group of men and women congregating outside a residential building, Arlington police said.

When the officer appeared, one male ran from the scene, police said.

The officer initiated a foot pursuit and observed the suspect discard a firearm, police said. The officer recovered the firearm while additional arriving officers took the suspect into custody in the area of North Piedmont Street and 6th Street North.

No injuries were reported, police said.

The suspect – 36-year-old Brandon Carter-El Miller of Arlington – was arrested and charged with reckless handling of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of Schedule I/II controlled substances and possession of a firearm while in possession of narcotics.

VEHICLE TAMPERING:

• On Aug. 10 at 2:58 a.m., officers responded to the 1500 block of Arlington Boulevard for a report of individuals breaking into vehicles in a parking lot.

Upon police arrival, the suspects fled the scene on foot, police said. Police established a perimeter, found two suspects hiding nearby and took them into custody.

The investigation determined the suspects allegedly had entered three vehicles and attempted to steal one of them by tampering with the ignition. Items reportedly located with the suspects include an unserialized 9 mm “ghost” gun loaded with nine rounds of ammunition, a window-punch device and a claw hammer, police said.

Arrested and charged with various offenses were 19-year-old Noel Sanchez of Alexandria and 18-year-old Nixon Menjivar of Alexandria.

ROBBERY:

• On Aug. 9 at 2:53 p.m., a man was a passenger inside a taxi in the 900 block of North Stafford Street when he brandished a firearm and demanded cash, Arlington police said.

The driver pulled over and the suspect stole the contents of the driver’s wallet, exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot, police said. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a black male, 50 to 60 years old, 5’8”, wearing a black hair covering.

• On Aug. 11 at 9:38 a.m., a man entered a business in the 3400 block of Washington Boulevard, stole merchandise and exited the store without payment, Arlington police said.

When the suspect was outside the business, he was confronted by loss-prevention personnel, and the suspect allegedly kicked them and fled the scene on foot, police said.

Responding officers located the suspect – 29-year-old Kermit Meredith Jr. of the District of Columbia – at Fairfax Drive and North Nelson Street. He was arrested and charged with robbery and public intoxication.

• On Aug. 11 at 3:31 p.m., a man entered a business in the 1000 block of North Fillmore Street, concealed merchandise in a backpack and then was confronted by an employee, Arlington police said.

The suspect pushed past the employee, exited the store and fled the scene on foot, police said. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a black male, 50 to 60 years old, 5’10” to 6 feet tall.

• On Aug. 10 at 3:16 a.m., an individual known to the victim entered the victim’s home in the 2500 block of 20th Road North, punched the victim and demanded his television, Arlington police said.

The suspect then left with the television, police said.

The victim reported the incident on Aug. 12 to the county magistrate’s office.

INDECENT EXPOSURE:

• On Aug. 17 at 3:36 p.m., an officer responding to a report of a suspicious person in the roadway at North Pershing Drive and North Fillmore Street observed the male suspect exposing himself and acting disorderly, Arlington police said.

The officer gave the suspect commands to stop, which he disregarded, police said.

An additional officer responded and gave the suspect commands. The suspect remained non-compliant and was taken into custody after an officer deployed a taser, police said.

He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation, police said.

The suspect – 47-year-old Javan Harris of Arlington – was arrested and charged with indecent exposure, disorderly conduct and public intoxication. Medics transported the suspect to an area hospital for evaluation.

VEHICLE THEFT:

• The Arlington County Police Department on Aug. 12 reported a whopping eight vehicles reported stolen in recent days.

On Aug. 7, a brown 2012 Mercedes-Benz 350 with Virginia plates was reported stolen from the 100 block of North Glebe Road.

On Aug. 9, a blue 2022 Nissan Altima with Virginia plates, a silver 2021 Nissan Sentra and a gray 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Massachusetts plates all were reported stolen from the 2700 block of Richmond Highway.

On Aug. 10, a white 2015 Acura RDX with Virginia plates was reported stolen from the 2400 block of 27th Court South and a blue Infiniti Q60 with Virginia plates was reported stolen from the 4900 block of 22nd Street North.

On Aug. 11, a silver 2010 Toyota Sienna with Virginia plates was reported stolen from the 4000 block of 23rd Street South and a black 2019 Jiaj moped with Virginia plates was reported stolen from the 2700 block of South Nelson Street.

• The Arlington County Police Department on Aug. 13 said four vehicles had been reported stolen the day before.

A white 2022 Tesla Y was reported stolen from the 2700 block of South Glebe Road. A red 2019 Mazda CX-3 was reported stolen from the 3700 block of 5th Street South. A black 2006 Honda Civic with Virginia plates was reported stolen from the 1700 block of North Lynn Street. A black 2012 Buick LaCrosse with District of Columbia plates was reported stolen from the 2800 block of Richmond Highway.

• On Aug. 15, Arlington police reported that, a day before, a black 2024 Qianxin Viper scooter had been reported stolen from the 3200 block of 24th Street South.

BURGLARY/UNLAWFUL ENTRY:

• On Aug. 9 at 10:26 p.m., a witness observed an open door at a vacant residence in the 2100 block of North Taylor Street and alerted police. Responding officers determined that a suspect or suspects had entered the home and subsequently fled.

• On Aug. 10 at 1:47 a.m., a man forced entry into a closed business in the 1500 block of Wilson Boulevard, stealing cash from three registers and causing damage before fleeing.

The suspect is described as a white male, in his mid- to late 20s, 6 feet tall, 150 pounds.

• Sometime between Aug. 13 at 11:30 a.m. and Aug. 14 at 8:30 a.m., a home in the 5200 block of 10th Place South was burglarized. Electronic equipment and the victim’s wallet were taken.

• On Aug. 15, police were called to the 3200 block of 24th Street South when a resident reported that, on Aug. 1, a firearm and cash had been stolen from the home.
