ASSAULT ON POLICE:
• On Nov. 11 at 1:46 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 500 block of 23rd Street South for a report of a fight, Arlington police said.
Upon arrival, officers were directed to a vehicle stopped in the middle lane of traffic, and as they approached, they came into contact with the male and female suspects, police said.
According to police, the female suspect disregarded officers’ commands and attempted to go back to the vehicle. When officers attempted to detain her, she allegedly became combative and resisted before being taken into custody.
As officers were detaining the female suspect, the male suspect became combative and attempted to interfere, police said. He was detained by additional arriving officers, but continued to resist, police said.
During a search of the female suspect, she kicked an officer, police said.
The first suspect – 29-year-old Tanquazia Bullock of the District of Columbia – was arrested and charged with assault on police, obstruction of justice and public intoxication.
The second suspect – 25-year-old Kyzell Spencer of Greensboro, N.C. – was arrested with obstruction of justice and public intoxication.
• On Nov. 11 at 4:25 a.m., two women known to each other engaged in a verbal dispute inside a parked vehicle in the 4200 block of South Four Mile Run Drive, Arlington police said.
During the incident, one of the combatants exited the vehicle and assaulted the other through an open car window, police said. When responding officers attempted to detain her, she allegedly struck an officer, police said.
The suspect – 33-year-old Erica Johnson of Jacksonville, Fla. – was arrested and charged with assault on police. The victim was treated on scene by medics.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING:
• On Nov. 11 at 5:53 p.m., two juvenile female were walking in the 1500 block of Wilson Boulevard when they were approached by a group of juveniles, Arlington police said.
A male juvenile knocked one of the victims to the ground, produced a taser and attempted to steal her personal belongings before the victims fled to a nearby business, police said. The suspect followed the victims and tased the second victim, police said.
The victims then exited the vehicles, chased by the suspect, who followed them into a residential building where he poured a drink on the second victim and pepper-sprayed her before fleeing on foot, police said.
The suspect is described as a black male juvenile, wearing a hoodie.
• On Nov. 11 at 11:45 p.m., an individual attempted to prevent a known suspect from entering the kitchen of a restaurant in the 900 block of North Glebe Road, Arlington police said.
The suspect allegedly knocked the victim into tables before being removed from the restaurant by witnesses.
The victim transported himself to VHC Health (Virginia Hospital Center) for treatment of injuries considered serious but non-life-threatening. The incident was reported from the hospital.
• On Nov. 12 at 10:23 p.m., a man was walking in the 900 block of South Buchanan Street when an unknown male approached him from behind, knocked him to the ground, stole his wallet and fled the scene, Arlington police said.
During the incident, the suspect produced a possible taser or stun-gun, police said.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries described as serious but non-life-threatening.
• On Nov. 12 at 4:24 p.m., a group of juvenile teens entered the fenced-in site of the former Key Bridge Marriott in the 1400 block of Langston Boulevard, Arlington police said.
As they were walking toward the vacant structure, an individual working as a security guard drove toward the group, exited his vehicle, confronted the youths and brandished his firearm, police said.
The gunshot struck one of the youths, who ran from the scene to the 1800 block of North Lynn Street, where he called police.
The security guard – 53-year-old Ahmed Namnoom of Laurel – was arrested and charged with malicious wounding and the use of a firearm in commission of a felony, police said.
ROBBERY:
• On Nov. 10 at 1:59 a.m., an individual entered a business in the 4600 block of Washington Boulevard, selected alcohol and began to walk toward the exit, Arlington police said.
An employee confronted the suspect, during which a struggle ensued, police said. The suspect then pulled the alcohol from the employee’s hands and fled on foot, police said.
The suspect – 47-year-old Peter Dawson of Arlington – was arrested and charged with robbery.
• On Nov. 11 at 12:30 p.m., an individual was walking in the 1500 block of South Fern Street when he came into contact with two men and a woman, Arlington police said.
One of the male suspects engaged the victim in conversation, during which a physical altercation ensued between the victim and the two men, police said.
During the incident, one of the male suspects took the victim’s backpack, removed items and gave them to the female suspect, police said.
The first male suspect and female suspect then entered a nearby residential building, and the second male suspect fled the scene on foot.
Responding officers located the two suspects inside the residential building and recovered the stolen items, police said.
The first suspect – 32-year-old Troy Beasley of Dumfries – was arrested and charged with robbery and prisoner in possession of an unlawfully obtained chemical substance. He was held without bond.
The second suspect – 20-year-old Jayla Washington of Arlington – was arrested and charged with buying/selling stolen goods.
• On Nov. 12 at 9:13 p.m., two men entered a business in the 4100 block of South Four Mile Run Drive, went behind the counter and attempted to steal merchandise, Arlington police said.
The suspects were confronted by an employee and fled, police said. While exiting the business, one of the suspects struck an employee before fleeing in a vehicle.
The suspects are described as black males, wearing all-black clothing.
• On Nov. 14 at 7:40 p.m., an individual entered a business in the 1300 block of South Joyce Street, selected merchandise and allegedly attempted to exit without payment, Arlington police said.
Loss-prevention personnel stopped the suspect, during which the suspect attempted to use force to flee, police said.
The suspect – 30-year-old Charles Jones of Capitol Heights – was arrested and charged with robbery and possession of a Class I/II controlled substance.
• On Nov. 15 at 1:30 p.m., a man entered a business in the 3500 block of Wilson Boulevard, demanded money and, when an employee declined, began acting disorderly, Arlington police said.
The suspect threatened the employee and collected merchandise, at which point the employee called police. The suspect then discarded the items and left, police said.
Responding officers located the suspect on scene and took him into custody. The suspect – 46-year-old Kwame Martin of no fixed address – was arrested and charged with attempted robbery and threats to burn a building. He was held without bond.
• On Nov. 15 at 3 p.m., a juvenile male was walking in the 4400 block of 31st Street South when a silver sedan pulled alongside him, Arlington police said.
The vehicle had three occupants, one of whom the youth had been involved in an ongoing dispute with.
The suspects exited the vehicle, assaulted the victim and attempted to steal his shoes before a witness approached and yelled at the suspects, who then entered their vehicle and fled the scene, police said.
No injuries were reported.
One suspect is described as a black male, 19 years old, 6 feet tall, with a mustache. A second is described as a black male, 17 to 19 years old, 6 feet tall.
• On Nov. 16 at 4:01 p.m., a vehicle with three occupants pulled up to a business in the 2300 block of Columbia Pike, Arlington police said.
Two individuals entered and went behind the counter, demanding that the employee open the register, police said. One of the suspects implied he had a firearm.
The suspects got away with cash and cigarettes, fleeing the scene in the vehicle described as dark in color.
The suspects are described as two black males, one 6 feet tall and thin, the other 5’6” and heavy-set. Both were wearing black ski masks.
THREATS TO SCHOOLS:
• Two separate threats – one in writing, one phoned in – put Arlington middle schools on lockdown in recent days.
On Nov. 13 at 9:47 a.m., police were dispatched to Swanson Middle School in the 5800 block of Washington Boulevard for a report of a telephoned bomb threat, Arlington police said.
The school was placed on lockdown. Responding officers searched the property and found no evidence of a crime.
On Nov. 14 at 2:07 p.m., officers were dispatched to Gunston Middle School, located in the 2700 block of South Lang Street for a report of a written threat.
Prior to police arrival, the school was placed on lockdown; the status was amended to “secure the school” as officers assisted with a controlled afternoon dismissal.
Police found the threat to be unsubstantiated.
Investigation is ongoing in each case.
BURGLARY:
• Sometime between Nov. 12 and Nov. 15, an attempt was made to force entry to a home in the 2000 block of South Eads Street.
No entry was made and no items were reported taken. There is no suspect description.
• On Nov. 12 at 12:41 a.m., an individual witnessed a man attempting to force entry to a business in the unit block of South Carlin Springs Road.
When the witness called out to the suspect, he fled on foot.
• On Nov. 12 at 3 a.m., two men forced entry into two businesses in the 200 block of 18th Street South, causing property damage and stealing cash and merchandise.
The suspects are described as a black male, 20 to 30 years old, wearing a black mask; a white male, 30 to 40 years old; and a male of unknown race and age with facial hair.
• On Nov. 12 at 6:11 a.m., two individuals approached a business in the 1600 block of Crystal Drive, and while one stood outside, the other entered the business, rummaged through items and stole cash.
The first suspect is described as a black male with skinny build. The second suspect is described as a male with a skinny build.
• On Nov. 13 at 1:05 a.m., two individuals entered a business in the 2900 block of Wilson Boulevard and forced entry by shattering a glass door.
The suspects then stole merchandise before fleeing on foot.
The suspects are described as light-skinned males, each wearing a black mask. Both were wearing black hooded sweatshirts and one was carrying a backpack.
• Sometime between Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 14 at 7 a.m., a business in the 1600 block of Wilson Boulevard was burglarized.
The suspect or suspects rummaged through the interior and stole electronics and personal property.
• On Nov. 14 at 4:42 a.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a burglary in progress at a closed business in the 5000 block of Columbia Pike, Arlington police said.
A responding officer located a suspect at South Four Mile Run Drive and Columbia Pike. The officer gave the suspect commands to stop, but the suspect fled, police said. Following a foot pursuit, she was taken into custody.
The suspect – 27-year-old Daniella Sniffen of Arlington – was arrested and charged with unlawful entry and destruction of property.
