U.S. Rep. Don Beyer (D-8th) speaks at a governance forum held May 18, 2023, and sponsored by the Arlington County Civic Federation.

After questions swirled about comments he made during a July 7 phone meeting of top congressional Democrats, U.S. Rep. Don Beyer (D-8th) put out a statement affirming support for President Biden remaining at the top of the ticket in November.

“I support President Biden," the statement said. "I support the Biden-Harris ticket, and look forward to helping defeat Donald Trump in November. I was proud to host an event this week in Northern Virginia with the President, and will continue doing all I can to support the Biden-Harris campaign in Virginia and across the country."

With Congress now back in Washington, there are some indications that pressure may ramp up on Biden to get out the race, making way for Vice President Kamala Harris to take his place.
