The Arlington County Police Department is contending with two malicious-wounding episodes reported in recent days.

• On July 3 at 2:19 p.m., a man was walking in the 200 block of North Piedmont Street when he was approached by five male suspects who assaulted him before fleeing, Arlington police said.

The victim sustained injuries described as serious but non-life-threatening, and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The suspects are described as Hispanic males, in their 20s.

• On July 4 at 11:27 a.m., two men were engaged in a verbal dispute inside a residential building in the 800 block of South Frederick Street, Arlington police said.

During the incident, one of the individuals allegedly produced what was believed to be a firearm, and struck the victim with it.

The suspect remained inside the residential building and initially refused officers’ commands to exit the building, police said. He subsequently exited and was taken into custody.

During the course of the investigation, a BB gun was recovered, police said.

The suspect – 68 year-old Ralph Duhart of Arlington – was arrested, charged with malicious wounding and held without bond.

The victim was treated on scene for injuries described as non-life-threatening.
