Arlington Democrats working to help out in North Carolina races

'Beyond Arlington' effort potentially could be refocused on Pa., even downstate Va.

As they hold their breath in anticipation of what might transpire, Arlington Democratic leaders are urging party faithful to stay the course.

“Watching politics is often disappointing, being involved in politics with helping ⁦call voters, write letters and recruit volunteers often inspires,” wrote Kip Malinosky on social media. “To those feeling anxious and upset, get involved.”

His comments on X (previously Twitter) were aimed at recruiting volunteers for the Beyond Arlington initiative of the Arlington County Democratic Committee. Malinosky, a former chair of the county party, heads the Beyond Arlington effort.

At the moment, Beyond Arlington is focused on supporting the Democratic effort in North Carolina, both in the presidential race and in congressional and statewide races on the November ballot.

When North Carolina was picked as the target for Beyond Arlington efforts at the start of 2024, Malinosky noted the group could pivot to Pennsylvania if the Biden campaign thought it more necessary there. Now, however, with polls showing Virginia in play for Republicans, there could be additional efforts expended within the Old Dominion itself.

Malinosky, who has worked tirelessly for Democrats for more than a decade, said his party shouldn’t be despondent about the current state of affairs.

“Make a difference – let’s win this,” he asked supporters.
