Arlington’s major-crime count for July was down from both a year and two years before, according to new police data.

A total of 816 “Group A” offenses were recorded for the month, according to new data from the Arlington County Police Department.

That compares to 957 such offenses in 2023 and 853 in 2022.

Group A offenses include everything from murder to larceny, and are a standard reporting metric of public-safety agencies across the nation.
