After seven years in the post, Animal Welfare League of Arlington president/CEO Sam Wolbert has announced plans to step down in December.
He will be leaving the area, he said in a note to supporters.
“This decision was not made lightly, and it comes with a mix of emotions as I reflect on everything we have accomplished together,” Wolbert said.
Leading the organization “has been the most rewarding experience of my career and an absolute pleasure,” he said, ticking off efforts that included increasing animal adoptions, expanding support for pet owners, growing behavioral-training programs, and developing a kitten-foster program and wildlife-resource center.
Wolbert’s impact “will be felt for years to come,” said Animal Welfare League of Arlington board chair Tim Denning.
“[His] vision and commitment has driven our organization forward,” Denning said. “We wish him all the best in his future endeavors and look forward to continuing the momentum he has established.”
