Median home-sales prices in the five most populous Northern Virginia jurisdictions were up significantly year-over-year for the first six months of 2024.

Fairfax County led the pack with a median overall sales price of $741,500, up 9 percent from $680,000 a year before, according to figures reported by Bright MLS, based on data from MarketStats by ShowingTime.

Loudoun County was nipping at its heels at $740,000, up 7.2 percent from $689,995.

Both jurisdictions benefit from a larger percentage of single-family homes than the next two on the list:

• Arlington’s median sales price for the first six months of the year stood at $725,000, up 8.6 percent from $667,500.

• Alexandria’s median price of $715,000 was up 11.9 percent – largest gain of the five – from $670,000.

Prince William County posted a 9.6-percent increase to $578,140.

Figures represent most, but not all, homes on the market. Year-to-date 2024 figures are preliminary and are subject to revision.
