Great Falls, McLean and Vienna Little Leagues all held annual and well-attended opening-day ceremonies at their main multi-field complexes this past Saturday morning, with the usual parade of players and other fanfare and recognitions.

First-year president Andy Dinn led opening-day ceremonies at Vienna Little League, which began with a parade of 86 teams of different age groups from Rhodes to Nance Field.

Four-time Vienna Little League all-star Bryce Eldridge, now a standout senior player for the Madison High School team and potential Major League draft pick, was the guest speaker. One of the Little League teams he played for was the Braves, and he was presented with a jersey from that squad.

“I have so many great memories on this field, so make sure you guys cherish and enjoy your time here,” Eldridge told the Little Leaguers. “I remember sitting there where you are looking up to the high-school players.”

Current senior baseball players from five different area varsity high-school teams were present and recognized for being former Vienna Little Leaguers. Madison, Marshall, Oakton, Thomas Jefferson and St. Paul VI Catholic were those teams.

Vienna’s multiple 2022 championship all-star teams were recognized, including the 11-under squad that won district, state and region titles.
