Three players from the Potomac School girls varsity team this past spring recently were chosen USA Lacrosse High School All-Americans for the District of Columbia region as a result of their performances during the 2024 season.
All three players were juniors – attack Stella Pence and midfielders Amory Imperatore and Catherine LeTendre.
Players were chosen from 121 schools in the D.C. region.
The three players also were chosen first-team all-state, as well as making the all-Independent School League team.
The trio helped the Panthers finish with a 14-8 overall record this past season, when the fourth seed finished 1-1 in the Division I private-school state tournament and 1-1 in the Independent School League tourney. The Panthers lost in the state semifinals, 7-6, to eventual champion St. Anne’s-Belfield.
The Panthers lost three matches by one goal this past season, seven by four goals or fewer.
For the season, Pence was the team’s leader in both goals, with 76, and assists, with 41. Imperatore had 49 goals, 13 assists and 74 draw controls. LeTendre netted 30 goals, had four assists and 78 draw controls. She missed a few games with an injury.
All three will play Division I college lacrosse. They also participate in other varsity sports at Potomac School.
Potomac School goalie Caitlin Jarvis, a junior during the spring, was chosen USA Lacrosse High School All-Academic for the 2024 season. Jarvis made 107 saves in goal and was a second-team all-state selection.
“This year we played a lot of good teams very tough. We will have a lot of experienced and talented players back next season, with an opportunity to have a very good team,” Potomac School coach Claire Berg said.
Brooke Ambrose, a sophomore during the spring, also was chosen second-team all-state for Potomac School, as well as making all-ISL.
Other local players chosen USA Lacrosse All-Academic in 2024 were senior defender Anna Talboth, junior midfielder Corinne Jaggard and junior attack Peyton West from Langley High and senior midfielder Hailey Buursink from McLean High.
