Potomac School teams were overall champions in two conferences

Tuttle, Witkop receive individual awards at the private school

For the second year in a row, the Potomac School Panthers were the overall champion in both the girls Independent School League and the boys Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference by achieving the best overall league records across all team sports during the 2023-24 high-school year.

For the achievement, the MAC awarded the boys program the Directors Cup for the third consecutive year, and the ISL awarded the girls program the James W. Lewis Trophy for the second consecutive year.

This was the first time in 25 years that a co-ed school won both championships in back-to-back years.

“We are very proud of our coaches and student-athletes,” Potomac School interim athletic director Maggie Vaughan said. “It is terrific what they have done.”

Potomac School teams won championships in multiple sports during the fall, winter and spring seasons.

In other Potomac School sports news, Senior Athletic Leadership Awards went to baseball player Paul Witkop and cross country and track and field standout Kate Tuttle.
