Dan Wolff is ready, willing, confident and believes he is well prepared to take over as the new head football coach of the Potomac School Panthers.
Wolff recently was named the interim coach of the private high-school team to succeed C.J. Remmo, who is leaving for an administrative position at a private school in Oregon. Wolff says he’s ready to step into the top position because he has been an assistant football coach with Potomac School for nine seasons, including being the head junior-varsity coach for three, along with the varsity offensive coordinator.
Wolff has been at the McLean school as a faculty member for 10 years.
“I am really excited to take the reins of the program. We are having fun already and hitting the ground running,” Wolff said. “We have already started our [offseason] seven on seven program, weight room and other stuff. We have excellent numbers of players, so we are rocked and ready.”
Wolff was an assistant under three head football coaches at Potomac School: Remmo, Blake Henry and Patrick Duffy.
“I learned a lot from all three,” Wolff said.
Wolff also has been an assistant baseball coach at Potomac School.
The new coach has his assistant football coaches in place for the coming season, including veteran defensive coordinator Levi Franklin. Kameron Bryant will be the offensive coordinator.
“Our staff is experienced and ready to go,” Wolff said.
Prior to Potomac School, Wolff was an assistant football coach for the Walt Whitman High School team in Maryland. He also was an assistant wrestling coach there. He’s a 2001 graduate of Walt Whitman.
Wolff graduated from High Point University in North Carolina and has a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University.
Potomac School opens its 2024 football season Labor Day weekend on Friday night, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. on the road at Norfolk Academy.
“We are looking forward to the fall season,” Wolff said.
