Fire trucks, high school players, Little League players, Scouts and school band members make their way in McLean Little League's opening-day parade down Westmoreland Street.

Great Falls, McLean and Vienna Little Leagues all held annual and well-attended opening-day ceremonies at their main multi-field complexes this past Saturday morning, with the usual parade of players and other fanfare and recognitions.

The 68th annual McLean Little League ceremony was held on the Westmoreland Street complex and began with the traditional parade from nearby McLean High School to the venue.

Baseball and softball players from local schools McLean, Langley and Potomac School were on hand and recognized, along with some longtime league sponsors.

Former Washington Capitals player Karl Alzner, now a coach in the league, threw out a first pitch in addition to longtime McLean Little League challenger player Elizabeth Wideman and current McLean High School senior softball pitcher Gabby Colder.

Wideman is a McLean High senior and cheerleader at the school.

Former league coach Roman Santiago was honored for his long service. Santiago passed away in recent months and a bench in his honor, located near an entrance to the park, was dedicated during the ceremony.
