Oakton divers win, improve record in Division I to 2-1

The Oakton Otters improved their diving record to 2-1 in Division I of the Northern Virginia Swimming League with a recent 38-34 home victory over Donaldson Run.

Oakton, the defending Division I champion, is in second place behind Vienna Woods (3-0). Those teams are scheduled to meet on July 9 at Vienna Woods.

In the win over Donaldson Run, five Oakton divers won their age divisions.

Sophia Blanco with a score of 89 won freshman girls, Tyler Kroopnick (92.55) won freshman boys, Caleb McManus (141.10) won intermediate boys, Isabelle Whang (210) won senior girls and Thibault Lede (254) was first in senior boys.

Also in senior boys, Jon Anthony Montel was second and Brendan Doe third.

The other Otters who placed were Chloe Sanglier (second, freshman girls), Graham Smith (third, freshman boys), Simone Wilson (third, junior girls), Charlotte Henderson (third, intermediate girls) and Kayla Knight (second, senior girls).

Blanco’s 89-point total broke a 14-year pool record.

In a previous meet, Lede broke the Otters’ senior boys record for highest point total.

At the July 7 Wally Martin Memorial 3-meter meet, Blanco won the freshman girls division (69.10), Lede was third in senior boys, Kroopnick was third in freshman boys, Whang was fourth in senior girls, Doe was fifth in senior boys and Montel seventh in senior boys.
