The Madison Warhawks avenged a road loss to Lake Braddock last season by defeating the Bruins, 31-7, at home in Vienna this year.
The Warhawks led 10-0 at the end of the first quarter, 17-7 at halftime and 24-7 after three periods of the Aug. 31 non-district high-school football game.
Quarterback Cael Yates was 8 of 13 passing for 81 yards and a touchdown and he ran for 46 yards, including a 25-yard TD run. His scoring pass went to his brother, Cord Yates, then Matthew Weiler ran for a two-point conversion.
Dominic Knicely (86 yards rushing) and Cole DeSimone (23 yards on the ground) had scoring runs of 19 and 10 yards, respectively. Danika Pfeghardt kicked two extra points and Liden Krush two for 20.
Madison's tackling leaders on defense were Caleb Smith, Luke Jarvis, Charlie Backman and Henry Maiden.
The Warhawks defeated Stone Bridge in week one this season. Madison lost to both Stone Bridge and Lake Braddock in those same two weeks last season to fall to 0-2.
