Madison High School graduate Anna Keating finished sixth in the finals of the women’s 200 breaststroke race at the recent U.S. Olympic swimming trials. Her time was 2:29.54.
“I was happy with my sixth-place finish in the finals,” Keating said. “That was my main goal to be in the final with three of my other [University of Virginia] teammates. My time wasn’t a PR. But I wasn’t bothered by that because I was able to place well.”
Keating’s personal-best time in the race is 2:24.6.
Keating was a point-scoring member of Virginia’s NCAA women’s Division I national championship teams the past four seasons, and helped the Madison girls win state crowns the four prior seasons. She has the option of returning to swim for Virginia for a fifth season if she desires, but has not yet made that decision.
Virginia will be a favorite to win a fifth straight national crown this coming winter.
