It was a dream indeed for one local-area men’s soccer team.

The Virginia Dream FC recently won the United Premier Soccer League’s DMV South Conference postseason tournament championship.

The Dream defeated the Alexandria Reds Pro, 4-1, in the title match. Goals were scored Nicolas Beil, Demetrius Shepard-Lewis, Jean-Christophe Koffi and Kevin Zhu.

On Sunday, July 14 at 7:30 p.m., the Dream will host the Athletic United at Meridian High School for a chance to advance to the UPSL’s National Sweet 16 competition.

Prior to winning the recent championship, the Dream was crowned Virginia Super Soccer League regular-season champions.

In addition to the previously mentioned on-field field accomplishments, off the field the Dream have provided internship/job shadowing opportunities for students of the sports medicine program at Meridian, with both the team’s coaching staff and the team’s conditioning facility, Arlington Personal Fitness.

In fulfilling the team’s vision of blending fashion, art and music with soccer, for the second year in a row, the team’s kits’ designs have been featured on SoccerBible and received worldwide recognition.
