Kent Gardens swimmers win yet another NVSL division title

Championship was teams seventh since 2013 season

Since the 2013 summer season, winning division championships has been a regular occurrence for the Kent Gardens Dolphins.

This year, Kent Gardens won the Northern Virginia Swimming League’s Division 3 crown with a 5-0 record. That marked the team’s seventh division title at various divisions since 2013 and the 13th overall in program history.

Prior to that stretch, the team had fallen as far as Division 16 in the league, twice back in 1994 and 1999. The climb back up began when Kent Gardens won Division 16 in 1994, then again in 1999.

Next year the team will likely move up to Division 2. The team has never been in Division 1.

Top swimmers for the team this season have been many. Leading the Dolphins with two wins each at the recent six-team Divisional 3 individual races were Hadley Nguyen, Lilia Buonforte, Sloane Nguyen and Sophie Fredericks, who set multiple team records this summer. One-race winners in the meet were Andy Li, Tess Pizzamiglio, Aaron Jia, Miles Bamberger and Caroline King.

Among other top swimmers for Kent Gardens this season were James Lex, Leo Wu, Sully Yoo, Aaron Kuang, Emma Bui, James Wittman, Anna King, Gloria Kuang, Libby Bamberger, Felix Charpentier, James Bui, Emily Liu, Eile Campbell, Bryson Hylton and Declan Nguyen.
