Madison High School golfer Ryan Moseley was the individual champion of the fourth-annual Don Roth Memorial Warhawk Invitational tournament. He shot 68.

Based on their opening competition of the new high-school golf season, the Madison Warhawks will be much improved this fall, enough to potentially contend for a  district championship in coming weeks.

Madison began its 2024 campaign by hosting the 20-team fourth annual Don Roth Memorial Warhawk Invitational tournament at Twin Lakes Golf Course in Clifton, finishing second with a 317 team score. Independence High No. 1 was the champion with a 282 total. Third was Independence No. 2 with a 318 total and Langley No. 1 was fourth at 319.

A year ago, Madison shot 347 in the same tournament, with a low individual score of an 82 shot by freshman Ryan Moseley.

This year, Moseley carded a 68 and won the individual title by a stroke of Sujaan Singh of Independence No. 1 and two over Kapil Ramachandran of the same team.

Also for Madison, sophomore Jack Cilman shot 79, junior Ethan Wasserman 83, sophomore Sohan Mehta 87 and senior Colin Park 94.

“We are vying for the district,” Madison coach Mike Serone said about the Concorde District tourney later this fall.

Madison was fourth in the district last year.

Leading Langley No. 1 was Shakthi Pattabiraman with a 75 in seventh, Harrison Smith shot 78 and Jacob Stansbury 80.

For the Marshall Statesmen (350 team total), Owen McCarton shot 77. Even Coller shot 79 for the Langley No. 2 team (342 team total).

The Oakton Cougars shot 345, with Ben Shield leading the way with a 75 to finish 10th individually.
