Highlands, Vienna Woods lead diving divisions with 3-0 records

Squads are each in sole possession of first place

The Vienna Woods and Highlands summer diving teams took over sole possession of first place with 3-0 records in the respective Northern Virginia Swimming League divisions with road victories the night of July 2.

In Division I, Vienna Woods edged Old Keene Mill, 37-35. In Division II, Highlands downed Hunt Valley, 41-31. 

Vienna Woods' divers won five age divisions with three seconds.

Winners were Tyler Brown in junior boys with a 98.15 point total, Peyton Reed in intermediate boys (181.75), Nick Wanzer in senior boys (245.7), Kylie O'Brien in freshman girls (65.1) and Mackenzie Karrels in junior girls (99.85). 

Second were Mount Richmond in intermediate boys, Eleanor Chang in junior girls and Sophie Bourdelais in senior girls. 

Vienna Woods has been in Division I since 2017, tying for first in 2019 with a 4-0-1 record.

Winning age divisions for Highlands were John Berik in freshman boys (86.7), Faustino Fredes in junior boys (123.85), Trent Hooton in intermediate boys (132.1), Lucas Stadelmann in senior boys (155.4), Julia Paukovits in junior girls (115.15) and Olivia Berik in intermediate girls (145.95).

Second for Highlanders were Santiago Fredes in freshman boys and Grace Berik in senior girls. Five Highlands divers placed third.

Highlands has not lost a match since the 2021 season, now owning a 14-match unbeaten streak, including one tie. The team won Division III last summer with a 4-0-1 mark and won Division V in 2022 with a 5-0 record.
