The Vienna Town Council in a July 8 consent-agenda item approved a new two-year contract for Town Manager Mercury Payton, whose annual base salary now will be $243,707.
Payton, who succeeded the late John Schoeberlein as town manager in 2011, last had his contract renewed in 2022. The Council approved the new contract, which will be in effect through June 30, 2026, following a satisfactory performance evaluation last December.
