The Vienna Town Council on June 3 on a 6-1 consent-agenda vote approved several million dollars’ worth of municipal contracts for services to be provided in fiscal year 2025, which starts July 1.
The Council agreed to “ride” $2.17 million worth of contracts competitively bid by other jurisdictions, including:
• A $200,000 contract with Capital Building Services for the cleaning of buildings.
• A $550,000 contract with Ferguson for meters, devices and related services.
• A $400,000 deal with Mansfield Oil Co. for bulk fuel.
• A $150,000 pact with Morton Salt/Eastern Salt for de-icing salt.
• A $170,000 contract with Republic Services for recycling.
– A $100,000 deal with Savera for temporary-employment services.
• A $600,000 pact with Tri-State for sewer lining.
The Council also approved these municipal contracts, worth a total of $4.6 million:
• A $200,000 deal with Bowman Consulting Group Ltd. for on-call engineering services.
• A $2.5 million contract with Crown Construction for provision and installation of water mains.
• A $500,000 deal with National Asphalt (primary vendor) and Fort Myer (secondary vendor) for asphalt hot mix.
• A $200,000 pact with Urban for on-call engineering services.
• A $1 million deal with U.S. Concrete and Paving Inc. for on-call small tasks involving concrete maintenance.
• A $200,000 contract with Whitman, Requardt & Associates for on-call engineering services.
In addition, the Council awarded a $159,300 contract to Chantilly Crushed Stone for provision of crushed stone, gravel, sand and other aggregates. Those materials will be used for backfilling after street and water-main repairs.
The company’s offer was slightly more than half as expensive as the $309,200 bid submitted by the other bidder for the same contract.
Council member Sandra Allen voted against the three consent-agenda items, but did not provide any explanation.
