A Vienna police officer stopped a vehicle June 12 at 4 a.m. after the driver reportedly struck a tree and a light pole in the 400 block of Maple Avenue, E.
Upon interacting with the driver, the officer detected signs of impairment and observed an open container of alcohol in the vehicle, police said.
Police arrested the 25-year-old McLean man after he allegedly failed to complete a series of field-sobriety tests, police said.
Police took him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he provided a sample of his blood for analysis. Authorities have charged the man with driving while intoxicated and drinking while operating a motor vehicle.
