An elderly woman living in the 500 block of Branch Road, S.E., told Vienna police that, between April 2 at 2 p.m. and April 3 at 3 p.m., two men came to her residence advising they were following up with former customers whose roofs they had replaced.
The resident permitted the men on the roof. The men advised the resident they made some repairs and charged her a large sum of money, police said. After the men left, the resident and her husband became concerned that the worker may have defrauded them and stopped payment of the check.
An officer spoke to a woman who claimed to be with the men’s company and she advised they would not seek payment for the work that was done, police said.
