An employee at Wawa, 465 Maple Ave., W., informed Vienna police July 16 at 5:55 p.m. that a couple had come into the store and the woman had distracted the employee while the man attempted to install what the employee believed was a card skimmer to the register’s card reader.
When the employee confronted the man, the couple fled from the store with the device. The device was never secured to the reader, and no financial loss occurred, police said.
