The Fairfax County Park Authority’s Water Mine Family Swimmin’ Hole at Lake Fairfax Park in Reston will close out summer with “Dog Daze” – a canines-only swimming event – on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“The popular event once again features a canine resource fair, so you can visit pet-related vendors and learn more about fun opportunities for dogs around the county,” Park Authority officials said.
Among the safety rules:
• All dogs must be current on vaccinations.
• All dog handlers must be 18 years or older and supervise dogs at all times.
• No female dogs in heat or puppies younger than 3 months old.
• Aggressive or unruly dogs are not permitted.
• Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs.
• Dogs swim at owners’ risk.
• Humans are not permitted in the pool.
The event is presented by Fairfax County Park Authority in partnership with Fairfax County Park Foundation. Proceeds from the $10 entry fee will benefit the foundation.

The 2022 Dog Daze event was canceled when the Water Mine had to cut its summer season short owing to mechanical issues.
