Vienna police have kept order at ViVa! Vienna! since the festival’s founding 40 years ago, and responded to multiple service calls at the event this past Memorial Day weekend.

• On May 25 at 9:50 p.m., a juvenile reported he was with his friends near Dominion Road and Church Street, N.E., at Viva!Vienna! when another juvenile approached him and struck him.

The second juvenile reported the group had been following the other boy around the festival, antagonizing him. He denied assaulting the first juvenile and there were no signs of injury, police said. Police advised the parties to avoid any further contact with each other.

• A Viva!Vienna! vendor set up at 111 Church St., N.W., reported that between May 26 at 6 p.m. and May 27 at 8 a.m., someone had stolen her tent and business sign.

• A vendor running the Viva!Vienna! carnival in the vicinity of Church and Mill street, N.E., told Vienna police on May 27 at 1:54 p.m. that someone had attempted to purchase tickets with a fraudulent bill. The cashier recognized the bill as fraudulent and the man completed his purchase with a credit card, police said.
