Fairfax County police detectives are investigating a stolen vehicle and carjacking allegedly committed July 5 by two teenagers, who later were arrested in Albemarle County.

Around 5:52 a.m. that morning, county police dispatched officers to the Vienna Metro station after receiving a report about a stolen 2021 Jeep Compass. Officers learned that two suspects allegedly stole the vehicle while it was left running and unoccupied.

Around 6 a.m., officers responded to a reported carjacking in the 8100 block of Porter Road in Merrifield.

The victim reported he was sitting in his 2022 Toyota Camry when two suspects approached him, produced a firearm and forced him out of the vehicle.

One of the suspects allegedly assaulted the victim before both suspects fled in the victim’s vehicle. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police said in a statement.

Detectives learned that the Jeep had become disabled after it was stolen by the suspects. The suspects then stole the victim’s Toyota, left the Jeep nearby, and fled Fairfax County before police arrived,.

Albemarle County Police Department officers spotted the Toyota and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the suspects sped away and crashed, police said.

The 16- and 17-year-old suspects were taken to a local hospital. Authorities located a firearm in the vehicle, police said.
