A resident deposited a check into the ATM at Bank of America, 235 Maple Ave., W., on July 5 at 1:05 p.m., Vienna police said.

Three men were in line behind her to use the machine and one of them allegedly scammed the woman, leading her to believe she made an error in her transaction and offering to assist her.

The woman accepted the assistance, gave him her card and she accessed her account again.

The woman did not realize the debit card the man gave back to her was not her own, police said. She later found the men had gone to several different locations and withdrawn money from her account.
