Weather conditions today [7/11] may be the best of the bunch for the coming week across Northern Virginia, with Friday likely to bring cooler but stormy weather before the next round of hot weather settles in.

"Cloudy and not as warm, but humid with a couple of showers and a heavy thunderstorm; beneficial rain may come at the risk of producing flash flooding" is how the GazetteLeader's weather partner, AccuWeather, projects conditions on Friday.

After that, daily high temperatures will zoom back up into the mid-90s, with some forecasts suggesting they could tiptoe up to the 100-degree mark by the middle of next week.
